Let us start with prepositions
************************
Prepositions are very important in the English Language. There are no definite rules for prepositions. Open any standard Grammar book and you will find a chapter titled ''Appropriate Prepositions." Who will determine the appropriateness of prepositions? You will get no answer. You have to follow the language as it has grown over the years. No language of the world has grown withe help of a set of predetermined rules. It is true for all the languages. Grammar of a language was written at much later date to avoid chaos. Language is a product of the society. It has grown naturally over a period of centuries. Many factors are renponsible for the growth of a language. This is not the place for that discussion.
In Bengali we do not use prepositions as such. We use 'bivoktis', 'onusorgas' & 'uposorgos' insted of prepositions. There are some common prepositions we use according to its meaning. The following prepositions are loosely called common prepositions::
in,on,into,at,up,above, to, down, below, beneath, for, because, between, among, since, over, by, with, without etc. Let us first learn to use these and some prepositions correctly.(To be continued)
