At the outset a few words about phrasal verbs. When a verb take a preposition after it and forms a single unit it sheds its original meaning to a great extent and  acquires a new meaning. With the change of each preposition the meaning of the phrasal verb keeps on changing. The second point to remember is that you can use the main verb in any tense you like. You can still use the single-word verb if you like. It is your choice. But if you use phrasal verbs you language will sound better, It is a kind of ornamentation if you please. There are hundreds of phrasal verbs in English. You will learn to use them as you grow up. For the Madhyamik students there are about 100 phrasal verbs.
